The Democratic Republic of the Congo against Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Morocco was unable to maintain their winning streak in the Africa Cup of Nations as they faced DR Congo in their second Group F match. Despite taking the lead early on through Achraf Hakimi’s well-executed volley from Hakim Ziyech’s corner, Morocco could not secure another victory. This outcome is a departure from their previous success in the tournament.
Despite an early setback, the DR Congo team demonstrated resilience by fighting hard and earning a penalty towards the end of the first half. Unfortunately, Cedric Bakambu’s attempt hit the post and went wide. However, the team’s performance significantly improved in the second half, especially after making strategic offensive substitutions under the guidance of head coach Sebastien Desabre. As a result, they were able to score a goal and reap the well-deserved reward for their determined efforts, courtesy of Meschak Elia and Silas, the striker from Stuttgart.
Morocco now leads Group F with four points after their convincing 3-0 victory against Tanzania in the opening match. On the other hand, the DRC has accumulated two points following a 1-1 draw against Zambia.
On Wednesday, Morocco is poised to secure victory in the group standings by defeating Zambia. The Democratic Republic of Congo is also in contention for a spot in the last 16 and will face Tanzania in their final match.
